Power Born From Wholeness

As we watch “power” being used as a bully club on the world stage, it feels important for me to clarify what I mean when I say that I want you to step into your power.

I am not talking about the kind of power that is conferred simply as a function of resources and/or position. Because power that comes from the outside can be stripped just as quickly as it was granted. Not necessarily without large- scale temper tantrums and years of legal battles … but I digress.

Suffice it to say, power that comes from the outside is not yours to keep. And attachment (or addiction) to that kind of power can lead to compulsive and pretty gnarly behavior.

The power I am interested in helping you step into, to embody
more fully, is the power that comes from a deep connection
within. The power that comes from wholeness.

“In the mainstream world of Western and Westernized cultures … the Self is not only abandoned early in life but also actively suppressed by family, schools, and religious practices. This suppression is essential to the existence of egocentric culture; a human being in vibrant contact with her wholeness would be a poor candidate for the social roles of consumer, worker bee, or soldier–the pawns and minions, the cogs and cannon fodder that enable military-industrial society to function.” ~Bill Plotkin, Wild Mind: A Field Guide to the Human Psyche

If the military-industrial complex were serving us as a collective, I might be more interested in perpetuating it (probably not, but we can pretend). But it is clear that these systems are serving only a few, and that number seems to be shrinking exponentially (if it ever was inclusive as its purveyors would have us believe).

Power anchored in wholeness by it’s very nature does not demand that other humans (or the living world) cower and tremble … or burn themselves out in service to perfectionism and being “productive members of society”. Because power born from wholeness knows that we all carry the seed of the divine energy that brought us here. And that we are inextricably connected and interdependent. Power born from wholeness doesn’t hingeon extraction of resources from the collective so they can be hoarded by a few.

“Be confident because you are a child of God. Be humble because everyone else is too.” ~Glennon Doyle

Power born from wholeness is deeply rooted yet flexible, curious, able to hold complexity, infused with deep humility,
grace and compassion, constant but not rigid, generous and expansive, bubbling with the energy of creative potential, honors
our shared humanity and the ways in which we harm each other and the living world, invites connection and belonging, and is fully present to what is while holding the possibility of what can be.

A look back at the etymology of the word power reveals that earlier versions of the word can be translated as “able, capable, possible.”

You are able.

You are capable.

You are possible.

And in a world in which learned helplessness is the point, claiming, stepping into and embodying your own power is radical and revolutionary.

This is the vision I hold. This is my invitation to you.

I am looking for four individuals to join a six-month, small group experience in which we will work with your unique nervous system blueprint to help you step more fully into your own power, voice and agency. If you are interested, reply to
