My “Special” Vacation

The SUNSET sail was blanketed with fog.

My son jumped into the ocean with his cast on . . . without the waterproofing sleeve.

The kids bickered and fought and cried and we rubbed each other’s nerves raw.

I spent one night sleeping with my clothes on and one ear open in case a trip to the ER was in our immediate future.

The hammering started at 8am.

This was my first trip back in 8 years to the place my Mom called home for the last decade of her life. It was supposed to be special.

The latest episode of The Freedom from Empty Podcast dives deeper into what I have learned about letting go of special moments. Because life is messy.

And sometimes, when we let ourselves and everyone else off the hook, we find gifts in the present moment.
