Do You Know Why?

Do you know why?

The Freedom from Empty podcast is 50!!

50 episodes old that is. If you take the time to subscribe and rate, you help other people find this content!

In the latest episode of the podcast I go deeper into the 1st step of the 6 steps for stress recovery and burnout prevention I have been using with clients and in my own life.

Why does WHY matter so much?!?!

Without our Why as an anchor, guidepost, measuring stick and North Star, we become a hamster on a hamster wheel . . . charging forward at full speed but getting nowhere . . .until we exhaust ourselves and collapse. But when we do the work to ground ourselves and stay connected to our Why, all of the other decisions become easier, we can see our progress along the way and we are able to maintain resilience in the face of extraordinary challenges.

Do you know your WHY? If you do, I would love to hear it! Just reply to booth@boothandrews.com with the subject “My Why.”

And here is the piece I missed. The almost fatal flaw in my earlier understanding and integration of the concept of having a WHY.

Even though I had a clearly articulated WHY more than a decade ago, I forgot something.

I forgot me. I forgot the fuel and resource the only delivery system I have for realizing my WHY; my body, mind and soul.

If you are operating without a clear WHY, or if you are out of alignment with your WHY, or if you are forgetting to fuel your why with the right resources and support everything is harder.

If you don’t have a clearly articulated WHY, here are some of my favorite prompts that might help you gain more clarity:

What are your deepest values and why?

What are your strengths?

What are the most important lessons you have learned and why do you consider them so important?

What are your dreams?

What do you not want to miss?

Who are you at your best?

What is one problem you see in the world that you are passionate about solving? What is it about your life experience, your story, your skills, and your circumstances that uniquely position you to solve this problem?

What is the one sentence inscription you would like to see on your tombstone that captures who you really were in your life?

And if (or when) you do have a clearly articulated WHY, I challenge you to honor your WHY with intentional investment in your own well-being so that you can bring your WHY to life.

Love,
Booth
