A vision story (part three)

I finally understand how to synthesize the life, leadership and business thresholds I have walked through with the lessons of the last decade; the decade that taught me to return home to my own self, wisdom, and body. I could write volumes about the thresholds I have crossed. And I imagine I will tell more of those stories over time.

I have a new vision now.

And the simple version is that there will be more lightbearers* taking their place in culture; living and creating from a place of deep, connected wholeness with their souls, selves and bodies intact (for as long as they are on this plane).

If you have been following along on this journey, if you feel drawn toward my stories, writing, and work, there is a really good chance you have at least a spark of lightbearer in you. But if you aren’t sure, let me know.

And the truth is that in order to do our soul’s work in the world, we must be able to imagine a different future, bring that future to life through action, and cross the thresholds that invite us to step more fully into our vision without getting lost (or shattered) along the way.

I have held vision.

I have turned vision into action.

I have collapsed under the weight of trying to hold up the sky.

I have been misunderstood.

I have spent all of my time, energy and presence focused on building the future in an attempt to assuage the realities of the present.

I have forgotten my own capacity to imagine a new and different future.

And now, I have remembered myself and my own experience, possibility and power. FWIW: I don’t think this process of forgetting and then remembering again ever stops for any of us.

I have learned how to treat thresholds as invitations and to cross them with awareness, purpose and intention.

I have learned that in order to be well, thrive, and have powerful, long- term impact, we also have to create a daily life we don’t have to escape in order to survive.

The are no hacks to bringing vision to life. Just like there are no real hacks for well-being. There are frameworks, strategies, tools and tactics. But at the end of the day, bringing vision to life requires:

knowing where you want to go,

trusting yourself,

claiming your own voice, power and potential to bring vision into form,

aligning all of the parts of you (and sometimes other people) behind that vision,

understanding the behaviors (aka culture) that support the vision (or will kill it right out of the gate),

making sure that you have the skills, resources and motivation necessary to bring that vision to life,

showing up, again and again and again and taking aligned action toward that vision,

honoring your nervous system capacity but also gently expanding that capacity over time (pushing the edges of your comfort zone without sending yourself into a fight, flight, freeze or fawn and knowing how to come back to a regulated state as needed)

navigating resistance with focus and resilience,

crossing thresholds, letting things die, re-routing, integrating lessons learned, beginning again

Bringing vision to life requires grounded self-awareness (aka calm), curiosity, clarity, courage, communication, connection with yourself and others, compassion, confidence, consistency, creativity, innovation and resilience.

Bringing vision to life is the result of sometimes thousands of steps forward– some big, some micro–with purpose and intention.

As you take each aligned action (with the right resources and support) you expand self-trust and belief which in turn supports your ability to take the next step(s) and maybe even hold bigger vision(s).

Bringing vision to life means understanding that the “how” will inevitably shift and change in response to both internal and external conditions and forces.

Bringing vision to life is empty (and unsustainable) if you sacrifice (or lose) yourself along the way.

Bringing vision to life sometimes means knowing when to step out of a role, or an organization, or a personal relationship … either to let the vision go on without you or to give yourself permission to make room for a new one.

Tomorrow I am announcing a new program that begins to integrate all that I have learned about creating and holding vision. Come back then to get all the details!

Love,

Booth
